IAA's Mohamad Salameh (G12), Alisar Quneibi (G11) and Lina Al Taweel (G11) attended Sunday's award ceremony for the Arab Council for the Gifted and Talented. There were 47 science submissions from 30 schools based in Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. IAA would like to congratulate Alisar and Lina for being selected (by a panel of mostly university professors) amongst the top 5 science projects in the region. Their project was truly creative and one of a kind - extracting cellulose acetate from used cigarettes, which they then used to enhance the properties of other common plastics. Who knew cigarette butts could be recycled? Well done, to our IAA scientists!
