Students are welcome to either bring a lunch from home or buy a cold lunch from the school cafeteria at minimal cost. Students enjoy two breaks during the day during which they may visit the cafeteria. The IAA employs a digitized system of payment using cafeteria student debit cards available at the Finance Department. Students can top-up these cards throughout the year as needed. Salads, sandwiches, juices, and other snack foods are available every day for purchase. Fast food, gum, chocolate, candy and soda/carbonated drinks are all prohibited on campus, as the IAA encourages healthy lifestyle choices for its students.

Outdoor Playgrounds

IAA boasts an abundance of outdoor playgrounds for both Primary and Secondary students. The students enjoy two breaks each day, during which they head outdoors to make the very most of their break time. There are three playgrounds in the IAA Primary School. The Pre-K playground incorporates moveable equipment, allowing teachers to change its spatial configuration on a daily basis. This ensures maximum variety and adaptability, as the facility is designed to support classroom programmes, offering a natural indoor/outdoor flow with the classrooms.

The playground intentionally avoids imposing fixed apparatus so the children can be presented with fresh challenges each day. The Pre-K playground encompasses a wide range of equipment, including climbing frames, wet areas, construction areas and several themed pieces featuring slides and climbing walls.  As with all the Primary playground facilities, it has the required soft drop flooring and ample shading. The KG1 classroom possesses a combination of fixed and moving apparatus. In addition to a large jungle gym, the KG playground is also supported by wet areas, a cycling area and an abundance of moveable equipment. The expansive Primary playground features three large jungle gyms, swings sets and slides, a very large sand pit, moveable equipment and a spacious ball zone with astro-turf. Safety and cleanliness take priority throughout all of these facilities.

Secondary students have plenty of energy too, and as such the Secondary School also provides extensive space for outdoor fun. Options include a grassy field, an outdoor basketball court and a "5-a-side" astro-turf pitch. An additional open space of grass hosts a large climbing frame popular among the younger Secondary students. The Sports Complex and main outdoor field are also frequently used during Secondary break time for friendly football matches.

Prayer Hall

IAA is proud to say that it is one of the few schools in Amman that has an entire building dedicated solely for interfaith and prayer purposes. IAA's Religious Studies Centre is one of the most peaceful and reverent buildings within the school complex.

IAA is proud to say that it is one of the few schools in Amman that has an entire building dedicated solely for interfaith and prayer purposes. IAA's Religious Studies Centre is one of the most peaceful and reverent buildings within the school complex.

Set off from the main buildings, the Religious Studies Centre provides a comforting, spiritual place where students can pray and receive religious instruction in both Islam and/or Christianity. For IAA's Islamic students, there is a main Prayer Hall and a small mosque (masjid), which can accommodate up to 150 students; a mini library containing religious books and related texts and journals, as well as CDs for research and personal religious needs. The masjid has an area dedicated for washing and wudu'. The Centre's Islamic classrooms are organized based on a traditional medrassa where students are taught using katateeb methodology.

IAA's Christian students' classroom is designed to create a warm, welcoming, prayer-oriented, comforting ambiance. The classroom is decorated with students' work that reflects Christian traditions. Classes focus on more than learning through books and/or reading the Bible, but also emphasize the precepts of life based on love, peace, and respect. Tarateel, Christian songs and hymns, are also prepared and sung before holidays and events. There is also a small library dedicated to Christian studies.

Being a Holy retreat from the normal school atmosphere, the Religious Studies Centre provides students with a place where they can gather and pray during their breaks (the set praying times of the day), lunchtime and sometimes after school. Afterschool activities range from Quran and Bible readings, discussions and learning about religion through stories and other literature.

As a place for inter faith discussion and prayer, the Centre through its many activities not only promotes understanding of both the Christian and Islamic religions, but also serves as a symbol of mutual respect and tolerance.
