IAA Takes Part in the Jordanian School Librarians Conference

The IAA Library Team attended the Jordanian School Librarians Conference held at the Amman Baptist School on 4-5 November. IAA Libraries were integral in establishing and planning the annual bilingual conference. The theme was Librarians Helping Librarians: Collaborate & Innovate. Over 100 librarians and vendors participated in this year’s event. Renee Hobbs, from the University of Rhode Island and the Media Education Lab delivered the keynote address about Information Literacy.

Primary Counsellors Ms Maria Patino and Ms Sophie Hamam presented “Personal Body Safety” content to primary parents. IAA students are made aware of how to keep themselves safe and such efforts need the parents’ support which was the objective of yesterday’s morning session.

Our annual event, I'MUN is happening tomorrow. I'MUN is an educational simulation and academic activity in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. This year's theme is Political Parallax, meaning the change that happens when looking at political and social changes from various points of view. Guest speakers this year are Robert Jenkins, Country Representative of UNICEF Jordan and Lex Takkenberg, Chief, Ethics Office at UNRWA Headquarters. IAA Director Attends CIS Board Meeting, Meets Alumni, Strengthens GSD Ties.

Last week, IAA Director Dr Hana Kanan attended the Council of International Schools (CIS) board meeting as Vice Chair in one of Segovia's remarkable archaeological sites at the IE University. The two-day meeting was productive in terms of setting a strategic plan for CIS. The CIS is a non-profit organisation in international education for the accreditation of schools and best practice development. Dr Hana also met IAA alumni, currently studying at IE, listened to their positive feedback pertaining IE, their performance and well-being. She also met Jorge de la Calle, Director of Global Development & Internalisation at Gredos San Diego (GSD), where both discussed future plans on strengthening the partnership between IAA and GSD in terms of sports training for IAA students, sports coaches visiting IAA and a language exchange programme. GSD is a cooperative that manages six schools in Madrid based on a vision of fostering tolerance whilst instilling values based on respect for human dignity and promoting interest in Science and Humanity.
