The Global Citizens Initiative - Summit for Youth 2014
Wednesday, 24 September 2014

The IAA would like to recognize Ghada Amer in Grade 11 for her exemplary contributions last August to the Global Citizens Initiative - Summit for Youth 2014 at Harvard University! According to the GCI website, the Global Citizens Summit for Youth (GCSY) brings a select group of international youth scholars and faculty to the Harvard University Faculty Club. Participants investigate the idea of global citizenship and the themes of freedom and fairness in the world today. It is a springboard to a larger world of global learning and inspiration as our GCI youth take action and follow their passion in this ever increasing globalized and digitalized world.

IAA is dedicated to cultivating the imagination of our students, with the aim of developing their vision and leadership as both national and global citizens. Ghada, as an ambassador of Jordan and IAA, you have represented our community with great dignity and pride. As a result, GCI organizers have invited IAA to consider future IAA student participation in this esteemed global initiative. IAA Grade 11 Students Umm Qais Visit
Thursday, 18 September 2014
Learning through community, action and service! IAA Grade 11 students visited Umm Qais on an educational trip last weekend. The Jordanian Department of Antiquities and the IB CAS Programme at IAA launched the creation of a cooperative archaeological programme involving the Hellenistic and Roman city of Gadara, known today as Umm Qais. Students worked with trained archaeologists excavating an area that is believed to have been an important market or forum. During the trip, the group worked with shovels, trowels, and brushes. They washed and cleaned pottery finds, conducted research on their discoveries, and had a full archaeological experience.
Finally, students enjoyed picking olives and hiking towards their service and action objectives. A truly enriching weekend!
American Universities Visit
Thursday, 11 September 2014

On Thursday 11th September, IAA was pleased to host seven reputable American universities: Bentley, Babson, Case Western, Baylor, Worchester Polytechnic Institution, Rochester and Chapman. The exhibition-style setting gave students the opportunity to chat with Admission Tutors and collect information about each individual university for when they make their final selection. Universities in turn were extremely impressed with some of the students' questions, which they felt reflected our their intellect and maturity.

IAA Secondary School Meet-and-Greet!
Tuesday, 09 September 2014

Parents of the Secondary School had a wonderful opportunity to meet their children's new teachers this last Tuesday. Following a series of brief presentations in the Auditorium, parents and staff congregated in the foyer to link faces with names! It was a busy afternoon as parents caught up with teachers from last year, while getting to know their children's new teachers too! Parents also attended a very informative MYP presentation led by Ms Nadia and Ms Christine for those parents who are new to the programme or for those who needed a refresher. There was a really positive energy throughout the afternoon, and if the level of noise is anything to go by, this was an extremely successful event!
