Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2012 -2013 academic school year at IAA! We look forward to welcoming you and your children in person next Sunday, 2nd September for the official first day of the academic term.

I would like to give a special warm welcome to all of our new parents and children joining the IAA family this year. Your addition to the IAA family is appreciated and valued. We hope you and your children find your transition to IAA to be an enjoyable and smooth one.

Parents will see a vast improvement on campus with all the maintenance work completed over the summer. The entire campus benefited from general maintenance, re-painting of all school buildings and major roof work was done to prevent leakage. In the Secondary Building, new Math Classrooms were added, two new Music Practice Rooms were built and modifications were made to the Art Classrooms. In the Primary School the design for the new Primary Playground was finalized and construction will begin soon.

I am thrilled to announce that IAA is fully staffed and all academic and administrative staff are back on campus preparing their classrooms and lesson plans.

I am confident that this upcoming year will not only be the best one yet, but also promises to be a landmark year. There are two major events taking place this year that will make a lasting impact on IAA. The first is the final Council of International Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (CIS/NEASC) visit in October which will determine if IAA will receive the CIS/NEASC accreditation.  Having the internationally recognized and respected CIS/NEASC accreditation will be another mark of excellence for IAA and raises the reputation of IAA within the collegiate community.   The second major event will be implementing the initiatives and programmes listed in IAA’s new Five Year Strategic Plan.

Some important information regarding the first day of school, Sunday 2nd September:

Uniform-Please note students are expected to be in full uniform on the first day of school. Students not in the official IAA uniform will be sent home. Should you need to purchase or exchange any additional uniform items please note that the school store will be open during school hours starting on Sunday, 2nd September.

Bus Transportation – Bus service will NOT be provided on the morning of Sunday, 2nd September however, normal bus service will operate on the afternoon on the 2nd, providing student transportation home from school. Buses will operate both in the morning and afternoon starting Monday, 3rd September. Please plan accordingly.

I am looking forward to a busy and fruitful year at IAA and hope to have the opportunity to speak with each of you at my annual Back to School Night reception on Thursday, 13th September. An invitation for this event will be sent home during the first week of school.  Additionally, please note that I will continue to offer Open Parent Meetings every Tuesday morning in my office from 8 am – 9 am. This is a time where no appointment is required and I speak with parents on a first-come, first served basis. These meetings will begin on Tuesday, 25th September and will continue every Tuesday for the rest of the year unless otherwise noted.

Yours faithfully,
